I started making leaves for my dogs and cat and I have gotten so many positive comments on them that I want to offer them to others. The leaf castings are made of sturdy hypertufa - a mix of Portland cement, sphagnum moss, and vermiculite. I use only a small amount of your pet's ashes or fur in the mix so that the pH of the mix will harden correctly. After casting and curing, the leaves are painted in acrylic to match the colors of the original leaf. The leaves can withstand a freeze - I do bring mine into an unheated shed for the coldest winter months.

The leaf casting process involves a few unusual steps that you need to be aware of before ordering. First, I live in Colorado and my leaf sizes and availability vary in my small nursery by the season. I have a broader selection in the summer (including hosta), although some begonias like the cooler weather. If you are interested in a leaf, please message me before ordering to see my available leaves. If I have a leaf available that you like, then you will order and receive instructions on where to send the ashes or fur.

Once I receive your ashes or fur, I will harvest your leaf. If something happens that your leaf is no longer available, I will message you with alternates. Once the leaf is cast, then the curing process begins. For your memorial leaf to be strong, I like to cure for a minimum of 2-6 weeks. It is then painted in acrylic paint via the dry brush method and sealed with an all-weather sealant.

Etsy does not have extended shipping choices but orders usually take a minimum of 2 months to prepare once I receive your package of ashes/fun.
